Cake deco 101

You know, I mentioned to y'all awhile back that I was taking a cake decorating class on Monday nights... Cake deco 101. Seriously. For those who have NEVER decorated a cake before in their life!! I've had sooo much fun doing it, and last night we "attempted" decorating our first cake. Here is a photo of my "crude attempt" at cake deco. Maybe not SO bad for the very first time??

We cut it last night after I got home, and I have to say, at least it TASTED good. Little Andrew was sooo excited when I brought it home last night and (very loudly) exclaimed "Oh mommy, my beautiful, beautiful, birthday cake, is it all for me, is it mommy?!?!" I didn't have the heart to explain to the little fella that it was just mommy's practice cake from class, or that *ahem* PINK wouldn't exactly be the color for his birthday cake, or that it wasn't made just for him. I smiled and replied "It sure is. All for you my sweet boy. Mommy made the whole thing." He then clapped his little hands and so "Oh mommy, you are such a big girl, I am so proud of you mommy, you did such a good job... Daddy, clap for mommy and my boo-ful cake".

After the sugar-fest was over (we added ice cream for effect), I got a big sloppy kiss from my sweet boy followed by a contented sigh, and an "Mommy, I love you for my cake".

Kinda makes it all worth it.

Happy Tuesday and Much Love

Oh Jennifer, will you share little Andy with me , pleeeaaasse!! He is the sweetest, cutest little boy! How sweet he was so proud of his Mama and her accomplishments, and rightly so! That little three year old put a smile on this almost 50 year old face:) What a blessing!

Oh, the cake looks great. Tell Andrew I am here clapping with him. ;0) You did a great job. YAY!! Thanks for sharing. That's so sweet that you let him think it was for him. I'm sure he won't remember the color, but he'll remember how sweet his mommy was for making a cake just for him!!

That is so cute! I love how excited he got about that cake. My kids are the same way.

I think you did a great job! I love decorating cakes, but have never taken a class. I just bought tips and real bags last year.

I had a problem posting some comments on your other posts . . . so I thought I'd do group them together here.

Post on the 80's . . . too funny! What memories! I was wondering if, "Where's the Beef?" would ever show up and was glad to see it.

Cake decorating . . . looks wonderful! I have no such talent.

Your little guy . . . I've enjoyed all the little highlights of what he says . . . too sweet!

I'll be back again to visit your lovely blog! Have a great day!

How funny how the pink icing makes no difference to him! It's the fact that Mama made it and it's yummy! (My kinda boy!)
